In accordance with the project requirements, the following works have been accomplished: 1. Baseline data survey of nationwide garbage trucks and other implements, including operation status, manpower requirement, outlays (including collection and treatment costs), collection methods, service areas, population of service area, collection routes and frequency as well as analysis on the resources allocation of garbage trucks in nationwide environmental protection entities. 2. Collecting information of innovative garbage truck technologies, assessing possibility for collecting different waste by one vehicle, providing suggestion for replacement timing of garbage trucks. 3. Providing assistances in tendering procedure for year 2008, which include preparation of standards and specifications of centralized procurement tender document for inter-entity supply contract, reviewing bidders’ documents and assistance in final decision. 4. Drafting and review of the contents and references for the “Proposal for Application of Subsidy for Replacement of Old Garbage Trucks by the City/County Governments”, conducting relevant review works, and assessing the implementation efficiency of replacement of old garbage trucks. 5. Establishing reporting system for garbage collection information, which included reporting contents, reporting procedure and reporting periods. Drafting indexes for garbage truck utilization, maintenance and performance assessment, which will provide suggestions for replacement of garbage trucks and improvement of garbage collection efficiency. 6. Managing and expanding of the information system for the nationwide garbage collection vehicles and garbage collection information, .This project also conducted information collection of maintenance facilities for garbage trucks.
